Tampa Bay Cataract Surgeon Incorporates New Intraocular Lens Technology

Palm Harbor, FL – Dr. Michael Manning, a cataract surgeon in Tampa Bay, now offers patients a new vision-correction technology known as the enVista™ lens. Created by Bausch + Lomb, the state-of-the-art lens can be implanted in combination with cataract surgery and can provide a significant advantage over traditional intraocular lenses. Dr. Manning is excited to be the first surgeon in the Tampa Bay area to adopt this new technology and says he feels implementing enVista™ lenses into his practice will continue to help raise the level of care he is able to provide the entire Tampa community:

“Since incorporating the enVista™ lens in my practice, my patients have been thrilled with the quality of vision that they are able to achieve. This has been a great addition to our practice that enables us to offer a full range of lens implant option to all of our patients undergoing cataract and refractive lens exchange surgery.”

According to Bausch + Lomb, enVista™ lenses effectively eliminate glistenings. Glistenings are outlined by the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as fluid-filled micro-vacuoles that form within the lens itself. In essence, glistenings result in vision impairment and are a possible post-operative effect of intraocular lens implantation. enVista™ aims to eliminate this side effect and claims to be a glistening-free, hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL). In addition, the lens is created to minimize posterior capsule opacification (POC), which is the clouding of the eye’s natural lens.

At his Tampa Bay eye care practice, where Dr. Manning is partnered with Dr. Alisha Fleming to provide optimal corrective vision care, serving as pioneers in the latest technologies is a major priority. The two eye care physicians say offering patients the first FDA-approved lens with a glistening-free label aligns with their practice’s goal of maintaining their positioning as one of the premier eye care facilities in Tampa. Dr. Manning adds that he is proud to offer the safest, most effective vision care technologies, and he will continue his pursuit of the latest advancements in the field of Ophthalmology.
